Chevy Cradle Brace Rattle
This bulletin applies to 2019-2024 Chevy Blazer and 2018-2023 Traverse vehicles. A rattle or clunk noise may be heard coming from the front of the vehicle while driving over bumps or making turning maneuvers. It may sound like a strut, control arm, or anti-sway bar. The cause may involve the engine cradle brace mounting. The cradle brace may be loose, mis-positioned, or improperly torqued. The cradle brace is a flat bar that attaches across the cradle with a bolt at each end.
Remove the cradle brace and drive the vehicle over bumps/conditions where the rattle was heard previously. If the noise is gone with the brace removed, simply reinstall the brace and torque the bolts to specification. Simply torquing the brace may not resolve the issue. The brace must be removed, reinstalled, and then torqued.
Note that the brace bolts are torque-to-yield, and are one-time-use bolts. Always install new bolts.
