Some 2020-2021 Lincoln Aviator vehicles built on or before Dec. 24, 2020, may exhibit an illuminated ABS warning lamp with DTC C0020 stored in the ABS module.

It may not be necessary to replace the ABS module/hydraulic control unit (HCU) to resolve this DTC. This may be due to a poor ground connection and/or improper plating on the attachment bolts at G108.

Remove the body control module C (BCMC). Remove the bolts, detach the wiring retainers and then remove the BCMC support bracket. Make sure that no shrink tube adhesive is interfering with the fastener clamping force or ground path through the fastener. Clean as needed with a razor blade.

Do not remove any paint from the body, as the ground path is through the bolt threads. Tighten the new fasteners securing the ground cables to 106 in-lb. Apply electrical grease to the fastener and ground cable eyelet. Reinstall. Clear DTCs from the ABS module.
