Aug. 6, 2024

This bulletin applies to 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 trucks equipped with a 3.0L engine. The MIL may be on and the cooling fans may be running continuously for an extended period of time.

There is a software anomaly in the engine calibration that will falsely set DTC P111E. This occurs with engine block heater usage in ambient temperatures above zero degrees Fahrenheit. The cooling system will also go into remedial action and turn on the cooling fans at 100%. The remedial action will continue until a six-hour soak.

Inform the customer to avoid engine block heater usage in temperatures above zero degrees Fahrenheit. Clear the DTC(s) and return the vehicle to the customer.
