This bulletin applies to 2017 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger vehicles built on or before March 22, 2017, and equipped with the 5.7L Hemi VVT engine and 6-speed manual Tremec transmission; 5.7L Hemi MDS VVT engine and 8-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission (and/or with Police Group package).

Customers may experience a MIL on. DTC U1424-00 (implausible engine torque signal received) may be set in the PCM memory. In addition, the customer may notice an unpleasant odor under extreme ambient conditions.

Software enhancements are also available involving reverse gear lock-out change from 10 miles-per-hour (mph) to three mph, a change to purge vapor control calibration, oxygen sensor feedback control changes to improve 3rd gear tip-in oscillation at high load, calibration update to allow the throttle body to be cycled while the engine is off (for diagnostic purposes) and improved shifting during a limp mode.

Note: the transmission control module (TCM) must be updated to the latest available software at the conclusion of this repair.

1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software.

2. Clear any DTCs that may have set.

3. Verify that the TCM is programmed with the latest software.
