This bulletin applies to 2012-2016 Hyundai Genesis Sedan and Equus, and 2013-2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles, outlining the procedure to check the ATF level for 8-speed RWD vehicles.

1. Remove the plastic shield under the transmission.

2. If the ATF has been completely drained, go to Step 3. To check ATF level, go to step five.

3. Turn the engine off, shift to neutral and lift the vehicle on a hoist. Use an eight-mm or 5/16-inch hex wrench and remove the fill plug and washer.

4. Remove the level check plug. Use a fluid pump or suction gun to add SP-IV-RR ATF through the fill plug until ATF flows from the level check plug. Reinstall the check and fill plug.

5. Attach a GDS and select vehicle, Data Analysis, A/T menu and Oil Temperature Sensor. Move the shift lever from P-R-D and back to P. Drive the vehicle until the ATF is at the low end of the range of 122-140 degrees Fahrenheit.

6. Start the engine, shift to Neutral and raise the vehicle on a hoist. Remove the fill plug and level check plug. Add SP-IV-RR ATF through the fill plug until ATF flows out the level check plug in a steady stream. Reinstall the level check plug and torque to 16-18 ft-lb. Reinstall the fill plug and washer and torque to 25-33 ft-lb.
