This bulletin applies to 2014-2016 Jeep Cherokee vehicles equipped with Jeep Active Drive I or II. Some vehicles may experience a constant high-pitched whine coming from the rear axle.
If the noise is coming from the RDU (rear drive unit), verify that the service bulletin has not already been performed on this vehicle or check the DTCM (drivetrain control module) for being at the latest part level.
If the DTCM is at the latest part level, further mechanical diagnosis will be necessary for the RDU. If not, replace the DTCM.
