If the fluid leaking is not red, the transmission is not leaking ATF (09G AQ250 and 09M AQ450 gearbox fluid is red in color).
This bulletin applies to 2015-2017 Volkswagen Beetle, Jetta, Golf and Tiguan vehicles. The customer may note that they see a yellow/gold colored fluid leaking from the engine bell housing area. This does not indicate a rear seal leak.
Due to the use of rust inhibitor/anti-seize products during transmission assembly, these fluids can wash out of the transmission bell housing over time, causing a customer concern of an engine/transmission fluid leak.
