The leak usually occurs in the area noted by the black arrow as seen here.
This bulletin applies to 2019-2021 Volkswagen Arteon, 2020-2021 Atlas Cross Sport and 2018-2021 Volkswagen Atlas and Tiguan vehicles.
The front differential box caseOA6 may be leaking. The source of the leak may be between the case halves at the right side of the bevel box, between the two bolts shown in the figure above. An improved bevel box design is used in production as of March 26th, 2021.
If the bevel box is leaking between the case halves, remove the bevel box per ElsaPro instructions. Clean the exterior of the bevel box of any leaked gear oil using a residue-free cleaner.

Clean the outer surface and apply silicone as shown here. Allow to cure for at least two hours.
Remove old sealant from the exterior in the area where new sealant will be applied. A scraper or razor can be used to remove old sealant from the surface of the bevel box.
Using silicone sealant P/N D 174 003 M2, apply a 10mm wide x 3mm high bead on the case halves in the area shown in the accompanying photo. Only apply silicone to the outer surface of the bevel box. Do not allow silicone to get into the body holes or threads.
Allow the silicone to cure for at least two hours. Reinstall the box, road test and check for leaks.
