Reprogram Toyota Tacoma to Stop Surge

Some 2016-2017 Toyota Tacoma vehicles equipped with a 2GR-FKS engine may exhibit an engine idle surge with steering input.

Some 2016-2017 Toyota Tacoma vehicles equipped with a 2GR-FKS engine may exhibit an engine idle surge with steering input. The surge is most likely noticeable when the vehicle is operated at an idle speed creep, when the steering wheel is turned and when engine coolant temperature is low.

Reprogram the ECM. If the vehicle is equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the new calibration ID is 8966304B0400 (main ECU). For the sub ECU, the new calibration ID is 896650401400. If equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, the new main ECU calibration ID is 8966304B1300.
