Pipe Weld Causes Ford Explorer Problems

An improperly welded exhaust Y-pipe may cause an illuminated MIL with DTC P013A and/or P013C stored in the PCM of 2013-2019 Ford Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.5L twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) engine.

Some 2013-2019 Ford Explorer vehicles equipped with a 3.5L twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P013A and/or P013C stored in the PCM.

This may be due to an improperly welded exhaust Y-pipe. Inspect the Y-pipe and replace if needed.
