Tighten Cadillac U-Joint Bolts

Some 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine and 8-speed automatic transmission may have a concern in which the drive shaft U-joint retainer bolts lose index.

Some 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine and 8-speed automatic transmission may have a concern in which the drive shaft U-joint retainer bolts lose index. If this occurs, a clunking noise may be heard and felt when changing speed.

If this condition is not corrected, reduced clamp load may cause the prop shaft to move relative to the axle yoke and a vibration may be felt. If one or more bolts back out completely, the prop shaft may separate from the axle. Remove the two U-joint retainers and the four retainer bolts.

Install new retainers P/N 23107857 and new bolts 11548472. The new bolts include an adhesive patch for improved retention. Tighten the new bolts to 18 ft-lb.
