Using the 2013 Toyota Sienna as an example, any time the battery terminal has been disconnected, the rearview monitor system must be re-initialized.
Start the engine.
Move the shift lever to the Reverse position to confirm that the Advanced Parking Guidance System is inoperative. “System Initializing” appears on the rearview monitor.
Move the shift lever to the park position. Turn the steering wheel lock to lock.
Move the shift lever to the reverse position and touch the parallel parking mode switch on the screen.
When the guidelines and “Check surroundings for safety” appear on the rearview monitor, initialization is complete.
