Toyota recalls 18,101 vehicles for rearview camera malfunction

May 18, 2022
Certain Toyota vehicles are being recalled due to potential rearview camera malfunction.

Toyota is recalling certain 2022 Tundra vehicles with a panoramic view monitor (PVM) system due to potential rearview camera malfunction.

The parking assist electronic control unit (ECU) software may prevent transmission of the rearview camera signal during cold weather, preventing the rearview image from displaying, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Toyota will begin sending out recall notices in the mail in late May. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service by calling 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is 22TA04.

To remedy the situation, dealers will reprogram the parking assist ECU software at no charge.

To check to see if your vehicle has an open recall, visit NHTSA's website and enter the vehicle's 17-digit vehicle identification number.
