This bulletin announces a change to the battery sensor on 2015-2016 Subaru Legacy, Outback and WRX vehicles, to prevent the unnecessary occurrence of DTC P1C00 being set in the PCM memory. The new design battery sensor is available as P/N 29182AA01B for Legacy and Outback, and 29182AA011 for WRX vehicles.
Although DTC P1C00 alone does not cause the check engine light to come on, it will likely be found when checking for any stored DTCs in the PCM. If the battery sensor is not replaced after identifying a stored P1C00, it will rest after clearing the memory or the next key cycle. When P1C00 is found in the memory of a vehicle prior to the production change, replace the battery sensor. The production change was made as follows:
MODEL ENGINE STARTING VIN
Legacy.................... 2.5L..................G*017229
Legacy....................3.6L...................G*017228
Outback..................2.5L..................G*237404
Outback..................3.6L..................G*237414
WRX........................2.0L..................G*818262
