This bulletin involves verifying the transmission heater assembly build date on 2015 RAM 1500 vehicles, and if necessary, replacing the transmission heater. This involves vehicles built on or after December 1, 2014, and equipped with an 8HP70 or 845RE transmission. Customers may notice the presence of transmission fluid in the engine coolant.
If a customer’s VIN indicates the afore-mentioned build timeframe, raise and support the vehicle. Visually inspect the side casing of the transmission heater assembly to determine the build date. If the build date is between December 12, 2014, and December 9, 2014, replace the transmission heater assembly. Although rare, if the presence of transmission fluid has been found in the engine coolant, the cooling system must be flushed/cleaned. A new transmission heater assembly is available as P/N 52014750AD.
