This bulletin applies to 2008-2014 Acura MDX, 2008-2012 RL, 2014 RLX, 2008-2014 TL and 2010-2013 ZDX vehicles. Each side of the engine block has four main bearing side bolts that secure the main caps to the outside of the block. Depending on model year, it is possible that not all of the bolt threads were sealed at the factory, so engine oil may travel past the threads and bolt washers, causing an oil leak on either side of the bock. Fortunately, the fix is easy. If evidence of bolt leakage is present, remove the affected bolt(s) and clean the bolt(s) thoroughly. Then apply Hondabond HT Silicone Gasket P/N 08718-0004 to the threads and washer contact surface, reinstall and torque to specification. To ensure a good seal, allow the silicone gasket to dry for at least 24 hours before starting the engine.
