Cadillac's Head Gasket Needs Inspected
This bulletin applies to 2016-2019 Cadillac CTS-V and 2015-2021 Escalade vehicles equipped with a 6.2L engine. The vehicle may have a concern of the engine running hot and/or has a ticking noise from the thermostat.
Inspect the position of the head gasket locating tabs to determine if the head gasket(s) has been possibly installed backward. The head gasket locating tabs for both engine banks should be located towards the front of the engine (on bank 1, the tab should be near cylinder 3; on bank 2, the tab should be near cylinder 4).
If the head gasket locating tabs are found to be closer to cylinders 5 or 6, the head gaskets were installed incorrectly, restricting engine coolant flow.
On the right bank (bank 2) the tab should be close to cylinder 4.
