• Audi May Be Too Sensitive

    When servicing a 2016-2017 Audi A6, DTC P050100 (speed signal 1, implausible signal) may be stored and the EPC light may be on. It can be caused by air leaks in the intake and/or crankcase ventilation system. In some cases, due to allowable hardware tolerances, the diagnostics in the ECU software may be too sensitive.

    When servicing a 2016-2017 Audi A6, DTC P050100 (speed signal 1, implausible signal) may be stored and the EPC light may be on. This DTC can be caused by air leaks in the intake and/or crankcase ventilation system. In some cases, due to allowable hardware tolerances, the diagnostics in the ECU software may be too sensitive.

    Perform the following steps before updating the ECM software:

    1. Complete the guided fault finding (GFF) test plan for DTC P050100.
    2. If GFF identified an issue, perform the needed repairs.
    3. If GFF does not identify the issue, check the oil filler cap and dipstick tube plug to ensure that they are correctly closed.

    If no other issues are found, proceed with the software update. Update the ECM, J623 (address word 0001). The new software P/N is 4G5907115C..version 0001 or higher.
