This bulletin applies to 2012-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Durango models. Some 2012-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles may experience a surge, shudder or pulsation type sensation when driving on a smooth road at highway speeds of 40-80 mph. The fix involves reprogramming the PCM with software release 14.03 or higher.

Note: This is an optional software update that should only be used in situations where the customer is specifically complaining about the above condition. There will be two separate software options displayed on the wiTECH flash tab. The software file released for this service bulletin contains the term “REFERENCE SB 18-035-14. THIS FLASH TO BE USED ONLY FOR SHUDDER COMPLAINTS.”

Using a scan tool (wiTECH), first verify that all engine systems are functioning properly. If DTCs are present, record and repair as needed before proceeding.

Install a battery charger so that the battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts or climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.

Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. After reprogramming, clear any DTCs that may have set in other modules.
