Stopping Mini Cooper Oil Leak

2014 Mini Cooper vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine may develop an oil leak at a sealing plug located in the cylinder head, just below the vacuum pump. The sealing plug may not have been tightened sufficiently during production.

The sealing plug is located just below the vacuum pump. Clean the area, loosen the plug, and re-torque to 40 Nm. Be sure to use an 8mm square drive bit.

Use a spray solvent equivalent to brake cleaner to remove residue at/around the plug. Loosen the sealing plug and re-torque to 40 Nm. The plug requires an 8mm external square drive tool.
