6.8L Ford down on power

Some 2005-2010 Ford E-Series Cutaway vehicles equipped with the 6.8L engine (shuttle bus applications) may exhibit a lack of rpm, hesitation and rough running at or near idle with or without DTCs P0505 and P0506.

Some 2005-2010 Ford E-Series Cutaway vehicles equipped with the 6.8L engine (shuttle bus applications) may exhibit a lack of rpm, hesitation and rough running at or near idle with or without DTCs P0505 and P0506.

These concerns may be due to aftermarket generator installations and/or front end accessory drive (FEAD) modifications to production-level vehicles.

Vehicles built on or after 3-8-10:

If unable to re-package the generator to maintain 6 inches minimum clearance from the throttle position sensor, replace the TP sensor using kit P/N 6L2Z-9B989-C.

Vehicles built on or before 3-7-10:

Some units may exhibit the above conditions if the throttle body has been replaced. If unable to re-package the generator to maintain 6 inches minimum clearance from the TP sensor, replace the TP sensor with the afore-mentioned kit.
