De-Bugging VW Scan

This bulletin applies to all 2000 and later Volkswagen vehicles where you find no communication with VSA 5052.

If you have a complaint of no communication with a VSA 5052 scan tool, check for a problem with the cable. Do not exchange the tester or re-install software first. If the cable proves faulty, replace the diagnostic cable with P/N VAS5052/3A.

This is a new cable that has the same pin layout as the old cable, but the design incorporates an improved round connector so that the cable won’t bend as easily.
