VW Steering Angle Sensor

This bulletin applies to all 2010 and later VW models (example: 2013 Passat). It may be noted during a Guided Functions or Vehicle Self Diagnosis scan that address word 04 for the steering angle sensor displays active. A direct communication to the steering angle sensor is not possible through this view.

This bulletin applies to all 2010 and later VW models (example: 2013 Passat). It may be noted during a Guided Functions or Vehicle Self Diagnosis scan that address word 04 for the steering angle sensor displays active. A direct communication to the steering angle sensor is not possible through this view.

A concern with the G85 steering angle sensor should be diagnosed through the fault code listed, or using MVB 7 in address 44 Steering Assistance (on equipped vehicles), or MVB 4 in address 03 Brake Electronics. 

The sensor should read 0 degrees (+/- 3 degrees) in the straight ahead position and over 500 degrees at each end stop. The end stop readings should be close to each other, where one stop will be a positive reading and the opposite a negative reading.
