Cracked and Confused?

During service or repair on a 2014 Mini Cooper equipped with a 1.6L engine, the technician may find small surface cracks on the water pump drive pulley.

According to the manufacturer, surface cracks form over time and are normal, and have no effect on the integrity of the friction surface.

No replacement is needed unless there is another issue that would be corrected by replacing the pulley.
