This bulletin applies to 2012 Chrysler 300 vehicles built between Nov. 24, 2011, and Jan. 14, 2012, equipped with electric steering column shaft lock. The customer may experience a condition where they have to press the start button 3 times before the engine will start.

The technician may find DTC B1A80-00 (electronic steering column lock communication performance). This is caused by the ESCL not sending a proper (unlock successful) message to the RF hub. Updating the software will correct this condition.

Using a scan tool, flash reprogram the RF hub. Help using the wiTECH diagnostic application for flashing an RF hub is available through the wiTECH diagnostic application. After the flash has been performed, turn the ignition switch off.

Turn the ignition switch on again and clear any DTCs that may have set in all modules due to reprogramming.
