Start-No-Start

Some owners of 2011-2012 Chrysler Grand Voyager/Town and Country vehicles equipped with steering column shaft lock built before April 4, 2012, or RT vehicles equipped with a steering column lock shaft collar built before April 13, 2012, may experience an intermittent no-start condition.

This will involve flash reprogramming for the WIN (wireless ignition node) with new software. The technician may find DTC B2224 (SKREEM -- sentry key remote entry module internal) or U0236 (lost communication with column lock module). If the DTCs are not set active or stored, the flash should still be performed, but additional diagnosis must be performed for the intermittent no-start condition.

The wiTECH software level must be at release 12.02 or higher.

There are other conditions that could set these DTCs that the reprogramming does not address. If the module is at the latest software version level and the DTCs are still setting (active or stored), further diagnosis will be required.

Connect a battery charger to prevent the battery voltage from dropping below 13.2 volts or above 13.5 volts during the flash process.

Flash the WIN module using the wiTECH diagnostic application. Clear any DTCs that may have set in other modules as a result of the flash.
