Some 2014 Chrysler Town & Country vehicles were assembled using the wrong Non Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) left-side steering wheel switch. This applies to vehicles built on or before Oct. 29, 2013, that are not equipped with an Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC).
Using a scan tool (wiTECH), verify that no DTCs are set. Record and repair any DTCs that are present.
The correct switch is available as P/N 56046251AD.
1. Remove the EVIC switch and install the correct part. Follow the procedure in DealerConnect, 08 – Electrical/8M – Message Systems/Message Center/SWITCH, EVIC Control/Removal/Installation.
WARNING: To avoid serious injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the SRS before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service.
Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable and wait for two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge.
