This bulletin applies to 2010-2012 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup trucks equipped with a 6.7L Cummins diesel engine. A DTC P0471 may set in below-freezing temperatures.

During the normal combustion process, condensation can form in the EMP (exhaust manifold pressure) sensor pressure sensing element.

If the vehicle is operating in temperatures of 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below, the condensation may freeze. As the moisture freezes and expands, this can cause the pressure sensing element to crack, causing damage to the EMP sensor and setting the DTC.

If the MIL is on and DTC P0471 is stored, and temperatures have been below freezing, replace the exhaust manifold pressure sensor, P/N 6800244AA along with the pressure sensor insulation kit, P/N 68175216AA.

Erase the DTC, start the engine and verify that the DTC does not return.
