A change was made to the valve springs in the FB engine. The coils of the new springs are closer together at the bottom and further apart at the top (retainer end). The new springs also feature a green paint mark for easy identification. The old type springs feature a red paint mark.
If valve springs are being replaced, do not mix the new and old type springs. All springs should be replaced with the new springs. The end of the spring with narrow pitch (coils closer together) must be installed against the cylinder head spring seat.
