Quieting Cadillac Click Noise

Some owners of 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles equipped with the performance strut assemblies may complain about a click, pop or clunk noise during braking, over bumps at low speeds and/or when turning. This may be caused by a loss of clamp load at the lower revolute joint (steering knuckle king pin) at the knuckle attachment.

If you encounter this concern, inspect the torque on the king pin bushing nuts. Remove the lower suspension control arm and inspect the torque of these nuts. If the existing torque is not at least 45 lb-ft, replace the king pin bushings and nuts for both RH and LH strut assemblies. When installing new king pin bushing nuts, follow this procedure:

1. Torque the nuts once at 74 lb-ft

2. Remove the nuts and apply liquid thread locker P/N 89021297.

3. Once verified that the bolts are fully seated, re-torque the new nuts to 74 lb-ft.
