Q: How did the tool/equipment function as far as saving you time?
A: Using this table allowed us to remove the transmission with the transfer case on an application that requires diving the front of the transmission under the engine during removal due to a crossmember that cannot be removed. Doing this job without the table may be possible, but having the table for this job gave us way more confidence in stability during the removal and installation process. That confidence allowed us to get the job completed faster.
Q: How has using this tool impacted your shop's profitability?
A: Saving time on the job impacted our shop’s profitability in a positive way. It also reduces the risks of personal injury or property damage.
Q: What kind of setup was involved before using the product?
A: The table was already assembled. All we had to do was use our forklift to get the table off of the pallet that it was shipped on and install the handle.
Q: How easy was it to use?
A: The table is easy to use; it does exactly what it is meant to do, and it does it well. Without assembly instructions or information on what each accessory does, the assembly and initial use could be easier. This is a new product, so I expect that more documentation and information will be made available to users in the near future.
Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?
A: This is a large and heavy piece of equipment. It was shipped in cardboard boxes on a crate. We used a forklift to unload it from the truck it came on.
Q: Was there a manual included? If so, did you use the manual, and was the manual easy to understand?
A: There was no manual included with our table, but according to a representative from MAHLE, there are videos online.
Q: What features did you like?
A: I like that the tabletop has threaded holes for mounting the different accessories needed for each job, that the table operates on air alone and there’s no need for an electrical cord or extension cords, that there are adjustable anchor points along the side of the table, that all four wheels are large, heavy duty lockable casters, and that the rate at which the table lowers is adjustable.
Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for?
A: We used this table to remove a 10-speed automatic transmission and transfer case from a four-wheel drive 2017 Ford F-150 during a rear main seal and oil pan reseal.
Q: How does this tool compare to other tools you've used like it?
A: This is the first time that we’ve used a lift table. In the past, we would use a telescoping transmission jack and screw jacks to remove powertrains, drivetrains, and subframes.
Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate this tool overall? Why?
A: I would give this table a 10. The design, functions, and features are impressive, and it is obvious that this table is very well made. The table is about 66” by 32”, so we were initially concerned about finding space in the shop, but now we’re excited because we realized that we have a new lunch table.
The ShopPRO MLT-2200 Multi-Use Lift Table XL from MAHLE Service Solutions is designed to help technicians safely handle large, heavy components around the shop. The lift table features a 2,200-lb. capacity and an air-over-hydraulic lifting system to help reduce physical strain when lifting and positioning components. A large work surface, adjustable fixtures, locking swivel casters, and a folding handle provide added versatility and maneuverability. The table also includes integrated tool storage, controlled lowering, and ratchet straps to help keep components secure during service.
