Q: How did the tool/equipment function as far as saving you time?

A: This gauge set is quick and easy to use, but essentially no different than many other R-1234yf gauge sets in terms of function and efficiency.

Q: What kind of setup was involved before using the product?

A: The hoses and quick couplers needed to be connected and tightened, but otherwise, the gauge set is pretty much ready to go out of the box.

Q: How easy was it to use?

A: This gauge set was quick and easy to set up and use.

Q: How was its packaging? Did it come with any accessories?

A: The gauge set and hoses came packaged in a clear plastic clamshell. The set includes the quick coupler fittings and also includes a hook (pre-attached).

Q: Was there a manual included? If so, did you use the manual, and was the manual easy to understand?

A: The gauge set includes a small instruction pamphlet. The pamphlet provides a labeled diagram of the gauge set and its components. It also provides general instructions on the setup and use of the gauge set.

Q: What features did you like?

A: The hand valves on the gauge set and the quick couplers are all labeled to show which direction to turn them to both open and close each valve. While this is a simple touch and perhaps not needed for most technicians, I have found that beginning technicians sometimes get confused as to the status of the hand valves on the gauge set itself and may inadvertently vent refrigerant through the yellow auxiliary hose. The labels should help to prevent this.

Q: What types of jobs/repairs did you use this tool for? Please provide a few specific examples.

A: This tool was used for various air conditioning work in order to check vehicle system pressures and monitor pressures during operation, both to verify normal system operation, as well as diagnose various system faults such as low refrigerant charge, insufficient condenser airflow, etc.

Q: How does this tool compare to other tools you’ve used like it?

A: I have used gauge sets similar to this one from other manufacturers for various refrigerants. There is not a lot of variation among this type of tool. The quality of the hoses and couplers can vary. These seem good, but it is difficult to assess without prolonged use.

Q: Is there anything you had questions or concerns about in regard to the tool?

A: The clear plastic lens for the low side gauge did not seem as secure as the one for the high side. I’m a little concerned that it could pop off and become damaged over time, or if one were slightly careless in using or storing the tool. A rubber overmold to surround the gauges, like some gauge sets include, would be a welcome addition, in my opinion, to increase the durability of the product.

Q: On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate this tool overall? Why?

A: I would rate this seven out of 10. The gauge set works well, but there is room for small improvements to ensure long-term durability. The quality of the hoses and quick couplers are an important aspect of a gauge set such as this, but it is too soon to assess the long-term durability of those components.
