Mitchell 1 offers online testing service for state truck technician skills competitions

Jan. 31, 2014
This new online testing capability allows Mitchell 1 to support more events as states add technician skills competitions to their schedules.

Mitchell 1 is offering state trucking associations that are currently planning or considering holding technician skills competitions in 2014 a convenient and cost-effective way to measure the participants’ ability to use online service information programs to diagnose and repair vehicles. The online testing service allows competition organizers to easily expand the areas in which they test their technicians, freeing up volunteers to help elsewhere and potentially increasing the number of contestants they can rotate through onsite event-day test stations.

The test measures the contestant’s ability to diagnose a problem and determine the proper fix using Mitchell 1 software, including Tractor-Trailer.net for repair information and Repair-Connect.net for diagnostics. By utilizing Mitchell 1’s online technician test, state organizers simply notify their contestants to log onto the test website from any computer with Internet access and complete the test within a specific time frame. At the conclusion of the test period, Mitchell 1 sends all results to the organizers to be included in the contestant’s final score.

This new online testing capability allows Mitchell 1 to support more events as states add technician skills competitions to their schedules. Mitchell 1’s online service information solutions for the trucking industry have been utilized at the state and national level since the inception of the SuperTech competitions.

Mitchell 1 encourages state committees interested in utilizing this testing method for the service information portion of their competitions to contact Mitchell 1’s testing coordinator, Dan Kincaid at [email protected].

Mitchell 1 products Tractor-Trailer.net, Medium-Truck.net and Repair-Connect.net cover vital procedural service information for all makes of Class 4-8 trucks to maximize shop productivity. TruckLabor, is the first comprehensive labor time estimating product for medium and heavy trucks, allowing service repair facilities access to accurate mechanical labor times for all makes and models from a single, Web-based source.
