This bulletin applies to 2015 BMW 335i xDrive vehicles equipped with the N55 engine and electrically adjusted turbocharger wastegate. Slight surging at constant speeds may be experienced while lightly accelerating. A shudder or surge may be felt. The symptom is most easily reproduced under light loads when fuel consumption is approximately 34-48 MPG. The current fuel consumption can be selected and monitored in the instrument cluster while driving. No relevant fault codes may be stored in the DME memory. The fuel injection rate under these conditions is too close to the minimum calculated threshold.
Perform diagnosis using the latest version of ISTA. If the symptom can be duplicated, program the vehicle by using the latest version of ISTA/P (3.55.0 or higher). Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply.
