This bulletin applies to 2017 Cadillac XT5 vehicles built from Feb. 1, 2016, to July 19, 2016. A customer may complain about an SES light on and a “Service Transmission Now, unable to shift soon” message. The vehicle may not shift out of park at times.

The technician may find DTC P07BE or P17F3 in the chassis control module (CCM). The Park button switch has two internal sensors. If the driver is not pressing the park button switch straight down in the center when shifting from Park, there may be a mismatch between the sensors causing these codes to set.

Also, if a customer drives with their hand resting on the shifter in such a way that they are inadvertently pressing the park switch lightly while driving, these codes may set.

There is an updated software available to address this concern. If the vehicle was built after the build dates noted here, test terminals at S3 Transmission Shift Lever, K38 CCM and in line connectors for circuits 2629, 2630, 2631 and 2632 and repair as needed.

If the condition continues and no cause can be found, an updated shift knob is now available.
