Solving the Case of the Cop Car Convertor
Some 2013-2018 Ford Police Interceptor Utility vehicles equipped with a 3.7L twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P0420 and/or P0430.
Retrieve all DTCs. If the only DTCs found are P0420 and/or P0430, replace the affected catalytic converter per the DTC.
If the vehicle was built on or before April 25, 2014, also reprogram the PCM with software release 90.02 or higher.
