The Auto Care Association has announced a trade mission to Central America – Honduras, Sept. 26 and Nicaragua, Sept. 28 – to support export promotion projects in Latin America.

The Auto Care Association has announced a trade mission to Central America – Honduras, Sept. 26 and Nicaragua, Sept. 28 – as part of the Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP) award the association received from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support export promotion projects in Latin America.

Trade missions are business development opportunities to gain first-hand market information and one-on-one meetings with potential clients and partners, pre-screened to match participants’ specific business objectives. The association, in collaboration with the U.S. Commercial Service, organized two successful trade missions to Guatemala and Peru in 2016, and will host a trade mission to Colombia in June of this year.

Trade mission packages start at $2,500 for one country and $5,000 for both countries. They include personalized business-to-business matchmaking meetings, hotel accommodations, local transportation, meals, interpreters and market overview briefings. Qualifying firms are eligible for a $1,500 offset per country (or $3,000 offset for both countries) of the trade mission costs.

The United States is Honduras’ and Nicaragua’s largest trade and economic partner and under the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), 100 percent of U.S. consumer and industrial goods exports to Honduras and Nicaragua are no longer subject to tariffs. Since its implementation, exports to the region have increased by at least 62 percent.
