Automechanika Shanghai, Asia’s largest automotive trade fair and the world’s second largest Automechanika fair, is slated for December 9-11 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

The fifth annual fair is organized by Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and the China National Automotive Industry International Corporation (CNAICO).

In line with the product profile of the global Automechanika brand, the event will encompass a broad spectrum of products and services for the automotive original equipment and aftermarket. Products will be organized in the following categories: Parts Systems, Accessories and Tuning, Repair and Maintenance, IT Management and Service Station Car Wash.

In 2008 Automechanika Shanghai had a record number of 1,982 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions. The show attracted more than 30,800 visitors from 104 countries and regions and half of the buyers had full purchasing authority. The number of exhibitors and visitors were up to 59 percent and 41 percent respectively.

The fair is expected to reach 100,000 sqm this year. To date, 70 percent of the exhibition space has already been taken up. Already confirmed for the 2009 show are four overseas pavilions from Germany, Singapore, UK and the USA. The German pavilion is sponsored by Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in cooperation with Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA). The Association of Small  Medium Enterprises supported by IE Singapore organises the Singaporean pavilion under the International Marketing Activities Programme (IMAP) grant. The UK pavilion is supported by the Society of Motor Manufacturers  Traders Ltd (SMMT), and the USA pavilion is certified by US Department of Commerce.
