More than 100 North American motor vehicle parts members participated in a joint industry reception on Sept. 15 during Automechanika Frankfurt, in Frankfurt, Germany.

Hosted by Jo Ellen Powell, the U.S. consul general at the U.S. Embassy, the industry reception was sponsored by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), the Overseas Automotive Council (OAC) and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) in conjuction with U.S. Commerical Service.

"This event was an excellent way for our association members and other North American Automechanika attendees to network with local distributors and representatives who are interested in exporting U.S.-manufactured products," says Steve Handschuh, president and COO of AASA. "This was a great beginning to what promises to be a successful week at Automechanika 2008."

Continuing through Sept. 21, Automechanika ranks as one of the automotive industry’s largest meetings, combining repair and maintenance, parts and systems, IT and management, service station and car wash and accessories and tuning exhibitors into one international show.

"This reception exemplifies the cooperative spirit between the sponsoring associations and the U.S. Commercial Service," says Anthony Cardez, executive director of OAC. "We are working together to promote export of U.S. products to Germany, Europe and the world."
