FAIRFAX, Va. – The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) has joined with the Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association (CIECA) to form a Recycled Parts & Inventory (RPI) Committee. The committee will focus on creating what these organizations call the best management practices for the flow of information from an automotive recycler to a collision repair facility and vice versa. The focus will be on the recycled parts market but also will include OEM, remanufactured and after-market parts.
This committee will cover all aspects in the electronic process, from the request for a part quote to the transaction of the sale of the part. Meetings are held every Tuesday at 2:00 PM EST via telephone conference and utilize the Go to Meetings web platform so that the entire committee can view schemas and workflow as they are modified and discussed by the group.
The RPI Committee is led by Charlie Quirt of CIECA and consists of representatives from the different segments of the automotive recycling industry. Members include individual recycling facilities, insurance agencies, data management companies, corporate automotive recycling companies and others.
