RICHMOND, Va. — The National Auto Body Council (NABC) 2008 Recycled Rides project is swiftly moving forward thanks to the widespread cooperation of many supporting vendors across the U.S.

Even before the April kickoff of the 2008 initiative, which aspires to donate 100 vehicles to 100 families in need on the Monday before Thanksgiving, NABC says vendors and insurers were openly expressing their eagerness to participate. This momentum has continued to build thanks to the efforts of Recycled Rides Vendor Coordinator Bruce Cooley of DuPont and Vehicle Procurement Coordinator Bill Mayer of Insurance Auto Auctions. The result is a solid group of companies that has stepped up to the plate to make the project's goals a reality.

"We want to thank all the vendors that have so far committed to assist shops with this year's project," states Mayer. "This wonderful program can succeed only if all facets of the industry combine their efforts, and that is exactly what is shaping up."

"The table is set and we're well on our way," says Troy Holm of Collision Services, who serves as Recycled Rides' repair shop coordinator. "Bill has secured over ninety vehicles to date and now it's my job to get the remaining shops committed. Those already on board are forward-thinking operators who seek involvement in their community and are looking for opportunities to create a sense of unity among their staff. As an industry cooperative, Recycled Rides is unprecedented. The program really is a winner."

Recycled Rides is a community awareness project whereby members of the NABC repair and donate recycled vehicles to families in need throughout the United States. Repairers, insurers, car rental companies, paint suppliers, parts suppliers and material vendors all contribute in their own specific ways. This year, throughout the country, Recycled Rides is scheduled to make 100 simultaneous vehicle donations the week of Thanksgiving.
