TPMS System Overview

The 2019 Ford Expedition utilizes a direct, High-Line Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). This system incorporates radio frequency (RF) sensors within each tire to continuously monitor individual tire pressures. When a low-pressure condition is detected, a signal is transmitted to the vehicle's Body Control Module (BCM), triggering a dashboard notification that displays the specific tire's pressure to the driver.

LTR TPMS Solution

LTR TPMS sensors provide a validated solution for servicing the TPMS system on the 2019 Ford Expedition. These universal sensors offer flexibility by allowing programming both on and off the vehicle.

Sensor Programming Methods:

  • Create New Unique ID: Program the sensor with a brand-new, unique identification number.
  • Copy Existing TPMS ID: Clone the sensor by copying the ID from the existing sensor stored in the vehicle's memory.
  • Manual ID Entry: Manually input a new ID into the sensor.
  • Batch Programming: Program up to four sensors simultaneously for efficiency.

Relearn Procedure

After programming new LTR TPMS sensors, a relearn procedure is required to register the new sensor IDs with the vehicle's BCM.

To Enter Relearn Mode (Push-Button Start):

· Note: Some models may require the Start button to be pushed twice (without pressing the brake) to enter RUN mode (Ignition ON/Engine OFF). Adjust steps three and five accordingly.

  1. Engage the parking brake and inflate all tires to the specified pressure.
  2. With the vehicle OFF, press and release the brake pedal.
  3. Push the START button five times (or eight times if 2x-to-RUN is required).
  4. Press and release the brake pedal.
  5. Push the START button six times (or nine times if 2x-to-RUN is required).
  6. A single horn chirp will indicate the vehicle is in relearn mode.
  7. Using a properly formatted TPMS diagnostic tool, read each tire's sensor in the following order: Left Front, Right Front, Right Rear and Left Rear.

LTR TPMS Sensor Specifications

The LTR TPMS sensor is an advanced, fully integrated system designed for superior performance and reliability.

  • Integrated Design: Features a combined microcontroller, pressure sensor, and accelerometer on a single chip for precise, real-time data.
  • Dual-Band RF: Includes a dual-band (315 MHz and 433 MHz) RF transmitter for broad vehicle compatibility.
  • Advanced Features: An onboard Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and multi-axis accelerometer enable efficient power management and advanced monitoring modes (e.g., driving vs. parking).
  • Comprehensive Data: Provides precise pressure and temperature data, triggers alerts based on predefined thresholds, and is designed to adapt to future vehicle technology advancements.
