Midas encourages tire recycling

Nationwide initiative offers $50 incentive to recycle old tires and trade for new

Midas Total Car Care is encouraging auto owners to recycle by offering all who bring in their old tires to be replaced and recycled by the Midas shop a $50 credit toward new tires with paid installation.  Over 400 Midas locations will participate in this initiative.

Recycling rubber tires means that millions of scrap tires are not dumped in landfills, or left illegally in lakes, abandoned lots, along the side of the road, and in sensitive habitats. Instead, more than 90 percent of these tires are being recycled and reused annually.

Recycling energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling four tires reduces CO2 by about 323 pounds, which is equivalent to 18 gallons of gasoline.

Scrap tire rubber is used to make new tires, playground surfaces, equestrian mats, rubberized asphalt, tennis shoes, children’s playgrounds, tracks at local schools, and more.
