Nominations for 2026 Best Young Tech, New Best Young Diesel Tech, Now Open
Now in its sixth year, the program recognizes exceptional technicians who are moving the industry forward through technical excellence, career development, and community involvement. This year, the program is expanding to include a brand-new category: the Best Young Diesel Tech Award, presented in partnership with Fleet Maintenance, to honor those excelling in the heavy-duty and commercial vehicle sectors.
What Makes a "Best Young Tech"?
The awards seek to highlight individuals who represent the highest ideals of the profession. To be eligible, nominees must:

Be between the ages of 21 and 35.

Have at least two years of professional experience in the industry.

Be ASE-certified.

Demonstrate measurable impact in their shop, whether through implementing innovative processes, pursuing advanced training, or mentoring others.

"We aren't just looking for someone who can fix a car; we’re looking for the future leaders of our industry who show a true passion for the craft and a commitment to their shop’s success."
The Prize Package
Winners will receive a premier industry experience, including:

A VIP Trip to Las Vegas: A roundtrip flight and two nights of lodging for a special award presentation during AAPEX 2026 (Nov. 3-5).

National Recognition: A featured profile story in the October issues of Motor Age or Fleet Maintenance magazines.

Prizes: Winners will receive a prize package valued at $250+ from each of the program’s sponsors.
How to Nominate
Do you know a technician who consistently goes above and beyond? Or are you a young tech who has hit major career milestones early? Candidates can be nominated by shop owners, colleagues, mentors, or they can even nominate themselves.
The nomination process involves submitting details regarding the tech’s career development, technical achievements, and personal attributes that set them apart from their peers.
Deadline: Nominations must be submitted by May 15, 2026.
