Milwaukee Tool is looking to expand its manufacturing operations even further within the United States.
The company announced on Tuesday that it's opening a new manufacturing facility in Grenada, Mississippi. It's set to open in late 2022, where it will offer increased capacity for the company's growing output for power tools and accessories. Milwaukee estimates it will create 1,200 new jobs with this move. Over 800 will be offered for the new Grenada facility, with the other 400 scattered throughout existing MS locations.
“Our new Grenada facility, as well as our ongoing investments in U.S. operations and manufacturing, will allow us to continue to serve our distribution partners and users with the speed, agility, and unparalleled levels of innovation that they’ve come to expect from Milwaukee Tool,” said Steve Richman, Milwaukee Tool Group President. “We’re thrilled to continue expanding our presence in Mississippi, where we have been fortunate to attract, retain, and recruit some of the best talent in the country. The bookends to our success continue to be our people and our culture.”
The manufacturer, which has been in business since 1924, has seen "rapid growth" over the past decade. As such, Milwaukee is investing $60 million in additional equipment and technological advancements to bring its new 500,000-square-foot Grenada facility to life. In total, Milwaukee has invested nearly $400 million in its various expansion projects, amassing a workforce of 5,500 US employees.
