Daylight savings time started March 13, and TRICO is going the
extra mile to promote the added safety of wiper blade
replacement through the company's "Change Your Clocks, Change
Your Blades" consumer initiative.
"More than any other time in recent memory, it is imperative
that drivers change their wiper blades following the record
snow and cold," said Kevin O'Dowd, Global Director of
Marketing, Corporate Branding and Strategy for Trico Products.
"The safety message promoted by the 'Change Your Clocks,
Change Your Blades' initiative jumpstarts the conversation
that auto parts and service professionals need to have with
their customers about products and services that can
dramatically increase driver safety through optimized
visibility."
Heavy snow, sleet and slush followed by the repeated freezing
and thawing of early spring reduce the effectiveness of wiper
blades and make them susceptible to failure.
Rear wiper blades are often forgotten, so "Change Your Clocks,
Change Your Blades" prompts retailers and installers to
recommend the replacement of this very important third wiper
while changing the blades on the front windshield. More than
27.9 million vehicles on the road today are equipped with a
rear wiper blade, but they are frequently overlooked because
these blades are molded to look like an integral part of the
rear wiper arm.
TRICO recommends that drivers change their wiper blades every
six months, and daylight saving time is the perfectly logical
time to make the switch. Change is in the air, home and
vehicle clocks, smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries,
first aid kit supplies, so changing wiper blades is a sensible
addition to consumers' safety to-do lists this time of
year.
