Delphi Training Academy has rebranded as Garage 360.
The rebrand is an effort by PHINIA to provide its customers with educational training that goes beyond its brands.
"We have a lot of courses that have nothing to do with our product," says Justin Shaffer, a technical training manager at PHINIA. "We want to make sure that we're all-encompassing, that we are providing our customers with quality training. We don't need to focus on our product lines. Our product lines do very well. We need to focus on what the technicians are truly looking for, and it doesn't have to be around our product."
The rebrand has led PHINIA to consolidate all its current training offerings under Garage 360.
"We are part of a larger organization," Shaffer says. "PHINIA has many subsidiaries that offer training. Our goal—now that we have Garage 360—is to have one platform that hosts all training under PHINIA."
PHINIA will bring together training from across its organizations and tie multiple websites together.
Garage 360 will also be featured on its subsidiaries' websites. For example, Delphi Academy's training will live on the Garage 360 page, and the Garage 360 page will now be available on the Delphi Academy website.
Expanding Training Opportunities
Part of the consolidation includes expanding the types of classes Garage 360 offers.
Currently, PHINIA's biggest offering is in-person training.
"Typically, our customers will purchase that type of training from us," Shaffer says.
With its new platform, Garage 360, PHINIA plans to expand its in-person training into Delphi-offered classes. These Delphi-offered classes will provide in-person training across the country and will be hosted at partner facilities.
PHINIA is currently working on these classes and is hopeful they will begin being offered in late 2027.
In addition to its upcoming in-person training, Garage 360 currently provides access to PHINIA's online learning management system.
Hands-On Learning
Its LMS has more than 100 hours of content covering a range of applications that may be included in training offerings.
"It could be ADAS, could be hybrid electric, could be diesel; it could be business development classes," Shaffer says. "We have a nice Excel spreadsheet course that gets into the details of how to use Excel in various ways, and gets into more than just your basic knowledge."
All the courses on the LMS include hands-on applications.
"The training courses mainly revolve around work orders and moving things around on the vehicle engine to try to emulate the actual diagnosis and repair," Shaffer says. "These applications are real-time, actual part-moving mechanics, using multimeters and different tools."
Building on its hands-on coursework, Garage 360 extends its reach with weekly virtual training sessions delivered through its Tech Tip Thursdays series.
Tech Tip Thursdays
Tech Tip Thursdays are free, live, instructor-led virtual training courses. These trainings give technicians and shop owners practical, real-world diagnostic skills.
"When deciding what the topic is going to be, we take the feedback that we receive from Tech Tip Thursdays, that is, the Q&A sessions at the end," Shaffer says. "What do they want to hear more about? What didn't they get out of the class that they just had? And then we put that into the next Tech Tip Thursday class."
Tech Tip Thursdays are an hour long and offered four times a month, with two sessions per day.
"One is hosted at noon Eastern time, and one at noon Pacific time," Shaffer says. "That's one class offered in two separate sessions. The same class is then offered again two weeks later, with two new sessions twice a month."
To encourage further education, previous Tech Tip Thursday sessions are published on Garage 360's resource center page.
"They're on our YouTube page. They're on our resource center page," Shaffer says. "We want you to be able to go back and watch all those free one-hour, high-level technical training sessions."
The resource center also hosts new knowledge articles.
Turning Questions Into Resources
These articles are developed based on problems and questions received through PHINIA's technical support line.
"The articles are about customer questions," Shaffer says. "We have 500 to 800 calls per month on the tech line that aren't necessarily complaints but are questions on installation, tech tips and diagnosing strategies. We're taking recurring feedback and creating various knowledge articles."
In addition to posting the articles in its resource center, PHINIA is also tying the response articles to its catalogs.
"This is so customers purchasing our parts can see real-time articles on what we're putting out there," Shaffer says. "These articles make things easier for the end user to install our parts."
As PHINIA continues to build Garage 360, the platform is positioning itself as more than a branded training hub. It is becoming a feedback-driven ecosystem where technicians' day-to-day challenges directly shape the curriculum.
By consolidating all its training under one umbrella, expanding its delivery formats and focusing its courses on real-world shop experiences, Garage 360 is building a platform designed to elevate technician and shop owner competency across the industry.
"We're not just developing content that's based around our product line," Shaffer says. "Our training is strictly about the needs of the technicians that are out there today. We focus on new technologies to try and help educate the automotive industry. We're listening to every technician that's calling in or talking to us at training classes, and we are incorporating that information into our future classes."
