This bulletin applies to 2019-2024 Nissan Altima vehicles equipped with a lane camera. If the automatic emergency braking (AEB) warning light is blinking and there are no related DTCs, inspect the windshield. A blinking AEB warning light may occur under the following conditions:
- When contamination/foreign material adheres to the lane camera viewing window on the windshield.
- When driving in snow or when frost forms on the windshield’s lane camera viewing window.
- When the lane camera viewing window is temporarily fogged up.
If DTCs are present (laser/radar, ICC/ADAS/lane camera), refer to the applicable service manual for diagnosis.
Heavy rain or thick fog may cause the light to blink. Good use of the wipers and keeping the windshield clean will mitigate some of the issue.
Explain to the customer the difference between contamination detection and a malfunction. During the following conditions, the AEB warning light may blink/flash:
- Strong light shining from over the front of the vehicle.
- Cabin temperature is over about 104 degrees Fahrenheit in direct sunlight.
- The radar sensor picks up interference from another radar source.
- When driving on roads without any road structures or buildings (long bridges, deserts, snow fields, driving next to long walls).
