This bulletin applies to 2018-2021 Chevy Equinox vehicles. The instrument cluster may display a message “Open then close driver window.” You may also notice that the front window's lowered enough to cause a wind noise (by about ¼-inch or so).

This may occur after a drive cycle with high volume/high bass sound system use. The cause may be that the window motor loses memory due to speaker vibration. The fix: install foam between the window motor and inner door panel to dampen motor vibration/resonance.

1. Remove the inner door panel.

2. Move the water deflector out of the way to gain access to the window motor casing.

3. Cut a piece of dense, adhesive-backed closed-cell foam (Kent Automotive P/N 83327 or equivalent to a 1-inch square, at ½-inch thickness. If using ¼-inch thick foam, stick two of these squares together to create ½-inch thickness.

4. Make sure that the inside of the inner door panel is clean and adhere the foam to the inside of the panel, between the end of the motor housing and the panel.

5. Reposition the water deflector and the door panel.

6. Perform the Window Motor Relearn Procedure (see window motor programming in the service manual).
