This bulletin applies to 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Velar, Defender, Discovery Sport and Evoque vehicles. When the engine is first started, PDC (park distance control) is fully operational.

Objects are detected and shown visibly on the display screen and audibly through the speakers. Once the vehicle reaches 16 kph, the PDC turns off as the speed threshold for operation has been exceeded.

As the vehicle slows below 16 kph (10 mph) a red box appears around the bird’s eye view on the PIVI HMI, indicating that PDC has degraded. However, the surround camera continues to operate as designed.

PDC audio warnings will not sound while in a degraded state with the appearance of the red box. If the vehicle speeds up above 16 kph, the red box disappears (as required because PDC is off), but returns when the vehicle slows back down. This remains for the ignition cycle and is only healed after another cold start. There are no DTCs stored.

The cause may be that the tires have been over-inflated over 58 psi. Check tire pressure and adjust accordingly.
